It's that time of year again. The day after Galentine's Day and the day before all the red and pink themed candy and chocolate goes on sale. It's Valentine's Day my friends. The typical romantic films are on repeat on most major networks, commericals for the new film How to Be Single keep popping up everywhere and maybe, just maybe, you are beginning to feel the single lady (or mister) blues. If so (and even if not), chin up and follow these fun and easy ways to showing yourself some love this Valentine's Day. 

Get Festive

The more cheesy the outifit, the better. Even if you're not going to leave the house, whip out your most colorful attire (red, pink and/or white is preferred, but any color will do) and get ready to feel happier. While it's not scientifically proven (but it does have my seal of approval), bright colors are bound to put you in a better mood. Whether it's wearing golden eyeliner or a red, giant, fuzzy onesie, immerse yourself in the spirit of Valentine's Day and make sure to snap a photo or two as a keepsake. 

Lights, Camera, Action

Laughter is the best cure for any ailment. The perfect source to get your daily dose? The internet of course. The whole point of YouTube is to have a neverending source of funny content. So, whether it's"funny cat fails" or "funny human fails" that's more your cup of tea, you are bound to find something to make you laugh. Either way, laughter burns calories, boosts your immune system and reduces stress, helping you to look good inside and out.

If you want to go the more traditional route, head to Netflix and stream a romantic comedy. Whether it's a TV show about a girl trying to find love in the big city, like The Mindy Project, or a heartwarming intergalatic love story, like Wall-e,  you'll get your recommended dose of laughter and romance. Either way, no matter which method you choose, both are just what the (love) doctor ordered. 

Think Pink

This step combines two of my most favorite things: crêpes and the color pink. Take your Valentine's Day meal up a notch by whipping up a batch of pink, red and/or white colored pastries. Just make sure to share with those around you, and be prepared to feel the love. 

Bust a Move

The best way to show your body some love is to keep it healthy. Put on some of your nicest workout gear and set time aside to get your body moving. Whether it's through an enegerizing yoga session, or it's just you dancing to a few of your favourite songs, go ahead and break a sweat. Your body and mind will love you for it long after Valentine's Day ends. My suggestions? Once again, YouTube saves the day. Adriene, from Yoga with Adriene has plenty of yoga videos for those of any level, from beginner to experienced yogi (I just finished her 30 Days of Yoga Challenge). Karena and Katrina, from Tone It Up, have tons of workouts  on their site that either work your whole body or that are specific to certain body parts. If you really feel like busting a move, then Matt Steffanina has dance tutorials to all of you favourite hit songs that you can learn. 

Catch some Zzzs

Getting the right amount of sleep will help you to start your week off right. Think of your body like a giant reusable  battery. In order to make it run properly, you need the perfect balance of sleep, exercise and nutrition. While it's certainly easier said then done if you have a  lot of work to catch up on, it's definitely worth the time. If you treat your body right, you'll get more in return. Either way, I know for a fact that it's something that I'll be working on this Valentine's Day.

A pop of color always puts a smile on my face. Getting a manicure and/or pedicure, will serve as a reminder throughout the week to treat yourself as if everyday was Valentine's Day.
