Have you ever had one of those days when nothing seems to be going your way? Well if so, there is no need to fret! I have created this list of pick-me-ups, that are sure to turn any frown upside down.

1. Give a big smile.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Fake it, until you make it”? Well that applies here as well, even if you don’t feel like it, just do it. It is known, that by simply smiling a few times, you end up sort of tricking yourself into feeling a bit better.

2. Get outside and explore.

Sometimes, nature can be the best therapy! Just taking a moment to walk around a park can clear your mind of its troubles and put things in perspective. Or, you can go explore the world around you! You can search for the best boutique store or cafĂ©. However, if the weather where you live is similar to how it is here in Canada, (and your relationship with the cold isn’t the best) then you can just as easily enjoy the view from you window with a nice cup of hot cocoa.

3. Talk about it.

If you’re really feeling sad, one good way to speed up the process of feeling better is to talk about it. Call up someone you trust or go visit them in person, and they can help with your problem and/or give some advice and help you feel better.

4. Try laughing.

When you’re feeling blue, one of the best ways to feel better is to laugh! So try YouTubing some funny videos or Vines, to keep you entertained and lift your mood!

5. Dress to Impress.

Usually, when people aren’t feeling that well, the way they dress tends to reflect their mood. This way, they feel at ease and comfortable wherever they go. Now, while this works for most people, my method is a bit counter intuitive, I try to dress better! I’ll wear my favourite article of clothing and/or accessory, in order to help brighten up my day!

6. A spa day with friends.

Take some time to indulge and have a spa day with your best buds. This way you can ask for advice and share a few laughs, while you get your nails done.

7. Create something new.

Create something wonderful! Whenever I feel upset (or bored), I try to do something constructive to distract myself! For example trying to make up my own recipe or bake some complicated pastry. So, choose your method/creative outlet and I am sure that you will feel better in no time.

8. Play some music!

Music is one of those things that can affect how you feel and express how you feel as well. So make an upbeat playlist, turn up the volume and enjoy!

9. Get active and move about!

Exercising, just like laughing, releases mood boosting endorphins which can help to kick your sad thoughts away!

10. Just DANCE!

I think that this is the best tip because, it encompasses four of the ones I mentioned before, music, getting active , smiling and creating. Dancing is a form of exercise and while you dance you listen to music. Also, you’re probably going to create some new moves during your dance session, which will most likely put a smile on your face!
